Week 3 Tertiary Forms and Topology
This week was a focus on tertiary details as well as getting through the retopology stage, I was able to knock out the whole body for retopology and get some nice tertiary detail in the head sculpt for this weeks assignment.
Here is a body shot as well.
Here is a closeup of the tertiary detail that is on the subdivided mesh.
Here is the Wireframe for the close up on the head. The final triangle count on the body is 19k.
Here is the full body, extra loops have been added around the joints to account for animation.
And here is the wireframe of the bust in zbrush I ended up taking from my actual character and separating out the parts that weren't needed for the assignment and closing the holes on them.

Head Creation Secondary Forms
For this week we're working on secondary forms for the head creation of our capstone game characters. This week I wanted to focus on fixing some proportion issues as well as getting the face much closer to the likeness that I'm wanting to capture.
This anatomy shot isn't necessary for the turn in requirement but since I'm working on this character full time I decided to go and sculpt through the body as well. The only part I didn't get to is the feet since I'm moving onto getting the armor blocked out for the team.
Here's a quick shot of the first pass block out for the attire.

Head Creation Block Out
For this week we're blocking out a head for 3D class with the hope to get these to be used in Capstone. My character is the Crimson Knight who is going to be faceless for the game. This gives me a ton of creative freedom however to make a face for him for my own personal presentation! Here is my block out for the head sculpt I wanted to establish the planes of the face as quick as possible and get myself to a good male looking face without losing myself in the secondary and tertiary details. For next week I hope to get some real good use out of my reference.
Here is my body block out I wanted to focus on getting good muscle groups for the character. His body will most likely be fully covered with armor so it's more creative freedom for me to give this character a specific build.
Here is a progress shot that I took in the middle of blocking out the forms for the character.
Here is my face reference for the head.
Here is my face approximation for what I want this guy to possibly look like!
And since this is part of capstone here are some different ideas for what his full look could potentially look like!

Artist Road Map
1. If you could project out past graduation, what is your overall career goal?
My overall career goal is to work in the AAA category of game studios. I would be perfectly fine with a midsize team and a job is a job but I would prefer to work for the heavy hitters.
2. If you could project out into starting your career, what sounds the most appealing to you?
I would prefer to be a Character Artist in the industry it's where all of my time sinks into and where I find the most drive and inspiration.
3. What are some of the top companies that you are interested in working for?
My top companies would be
Sony Santa Monica (Any PlayStation Studio would be amazing but I gravitate towards God of War the most)
Nintendo
Blizzard (Diablo Team)
EA (Would prefer Respawn but the Madden team would be real fun too!)

Artist Vision Board
Here are the artists and their work that I find the most inspiring, I gravitate heavily towards anything character art it just catches my eye more than anything and I have some variety in here but the one thing these guys all have in common is how well they present their stuff, I feel like I can improve my presentation skills for my work I just tend to try and rush that part of the process most times and I always have to double back and redo shots, I think I just want to rush it out and see it all finished but it's an impatience thing for me.
My top three from here would have to be J Hill, Raf Grasetti and Pavel Hristov. I like the execution that J Hill has and the level of fidelity and granular detail that he goes into. However I did want to highlight the work of Tom Newbury as well, I feel that him and J Hill hit the same kind of quality bar.
Raf Grasetti I love his composition and his level of anatomy. He's able to exaggerate stuff while still being able to keep things believable.
Pavel I love his concepts, he has some unique but familiar looking ideas.
